but now i am ok…and thank God i have German friends…becuase i otherwise i knew no hospital…no doctor…almost no German language to talk to the doctor…

and now i am really happy that is heeling fast…and i am going to Italy for 5 days…i will tell you all about it when i am coming back:)

and some more news..i applied to be trainer in a WENA LDS a big conference that takes place in UK, near London…i would love to deliver some more trainings on career planning and leadership:) and also to see London…so tineti-mi pumnii!!

that is the name of a bar where you can listen to jazz live music every night.it is in the center of the town and it looks like a family business…

it is a special place…pretty small…but like a magnet for famous jazz artists…and also crowded with “fans”:)..many chairs, very few tables, to spare the space:)

i was there last night…and it was so full!! and the music was nice…it didn’t make me melancolic which happpens very often when i listen to jazz…

it was the birthday of a Romanian friend…who is studing here and we were in total 8 people…out of which 6 were Germans…and we had interesting conversations…they are all students..not older then 21 (so i felt a bit old there…)…with different interests, different then mine. Now i can say i understood better the educational system here and the career choosing and planning.

cheers again:)

hi again…many things not enough time:)

On Saturday we went to Frankenstein Castle by bike. We took the train to the closest city and then we went up the hills for almost 3 hours…in total 13 km, and 7 trees blocking the road…

we were 3 girls and one German guy…he helped us a lot with the bikes..and he was such a gentleman…but he is always very polite…so nothing new:)

the castle was pretty nice…not much left of it, but it is in the middle of nowhere…and even so…there is a road for cars up to there…

is the castle where Frankenstein, the famous doctor from Mary Shelly’s book…was born and where he died…and it is said he is haunting the place…

there is also a small chapel where you can get married if you want to…
and a restaurant…where i aet a great soup…i think it was speneach soup…never tried that before:)

going down, was of course much easier…just had to take care of the breaks:)

and then in the evening we had a pijama party…with many internationals and only 2 Germans:)

i met a guy from Costa Rica…interesting culture they have there..and so similar to ours…and more then that…we discovered we have a common friend…the world is sooo small:)

cheers,

Brunswick and Sausalitos January 19, 2007

yup…

these are the names of the the last places i have been in…

Brunswick is a bowling place…i tried bowling for the first time ever…and i liked it…but i can say that it is fun when you go in a big group…we were about 10 people…more or less experienced…i have to say also that i didnt like the shoes…i like the way they look like, but my sneakers were more confortable and my feet were sweating in the blue-red tipical shoes:) it was 3,2 per game and 2 for the unconfortable funny looking shoes…

i tried all the balls …but it seems with more then 10kg i have no chance of a…”good traiectory”…i was always on the last place…because it was my first time and also because i was eating Duygu’s french fries between throwings (By the way…it has been one month and a hlf since i have been here and i can honestly say Duygu is my favourite..my best friend..and i am glad:) …she is turkish and we are also collegues, she is a trainee here also, and she was in MC in AIESEC…lot to talk about, uh?:)…

Sausalitos was yesterday…in AIESEC were EB elections…the second round…for PD and finance…it was interesting …and very…unchallenging…to put it in numbers…the EB elections in a respectable LC in Romania are on a scale from 1 to 10, and 10 being the best election process (and by best i understand conected to the curent reality, and curent needs of the LC and to being prepared for the job and some other subjective spiders that i have on my brain:P) in Romania the elections (In AIESEC) are around 7-8 maybe in AIESEC Bucharest i would give them even 9 sometimes. Here…well here…considering this is Frankfurt, i would expect it to be like in Bucharest…but…i would give it a 6 (and i am not strict…i am generous)…so i was said…especially when the PD candidate was in front…i was VP PD…so…yea…to make a long strong feelings story short…i felt sad…there was no leadership…i miss the leadership of AIESEC Romania members…even though we are not as good as we could be either…

anyway…then we went through the storm to Sausalitos…i just loved it!!! i could give up some nuttela or milka for that chicken…and i thought i would never say something like this:)))

is a big bar in a mexican style and before 20.00 the cocktails are half price…i took a guess and ordered one…like everybody else…but i was not so lucky…itwas too tooo sweet…but we had a lot of fun and tortillas and the chicken are great…and the klaublaud??? whatever:)) the garlic sauce was great…

i had really nice conversations….about everything…and of course also about the German culture…so a german guy finally made me understand why when he picked me up from the train station with my 25 kilos of laguage, almost 2 months ago, he didnt offer to help…so i had to ask him to share the laguage with me:P…which is soooo….different from the country in which i was before…Italy…where…when i got in the train…were 3 men around and all ofthe jumped to help me…and i am sure they didn’t expect anything in return…but that’s Italy…here is Germany…and considering the story this german guy told me…i perfectly understand why a woman will struggle to get in/out of a train with 25 kilos of laguage and no one would try to help…:))) but next time i need help i will ask them for it…just that it will be in German…with a foreign accent…that should be interesting enough to solve the laguage problem:P…

the weather got better…and tomorrow we will go to Frankenstein castle…and we have a german guy as a guide so i expect we will have a lot of details and stories on the road…which is great…

but…i still think i don’t like German guys…i mean PURE germans…cause the nice ones that i know, spent at least 5 months up to 3 years in foreign countries…i met one pure german (that had not seen any other country)…and he was so closed minded…smart, hansome, elegant, polite, but closed minded…in one word…pitiful…but i will not jump into conclusions yet…i still have 4 months of staing here…i need more study cases to make a relevant statistics :P

i have no idea where is all this sense of humour coming from…but it will be useful later on …cause tomorrow is my mom’s birthday…the saddest day in the year for her…she is getting old…so she needs some encouragements and she will get many smiles from me by phone…i wish it was front in front though…BUT let’s keep up the bright spirits and get the hell out of here…and go….Shopping!!:)

so..have a schones Wochenende!…i already heard it 4 times…because again…i am the last one leaving the office…i guess i like it:)))

@ly yours,

Arch..the happiest learner

…a tipical question if you are in Germany….sometimes really ennoying…

and… not even when you are in Germany…yesterday was the Golden Globe on tv:

reporter aproaching Clint Eastwood:

- i heard you just came back from Berlin

-yes that is right

- so how is your German?

-aufwiedersehen!

and she did this with more people …as…Hollywood stars people…

i guess is just very important for them that people know German…but…since the question comes at least twice a week, for me …i started to hate this question…so…next time when it happens i will not give time to the person to ask me this NICE question…i will ask a question myself…first:

HOW IS YOUR ENGLISH? getting better…or still nür ein Bisschen…

Tschüss!

Opportunity for all of us who want to know more January 16, 2007

Hello friends from everywhere,

Yesterday i had a thought!

Last week i was at this Alumni & AIESEC Members meeting to celebrate the begining of a new year and to do some networking. After discussing about the EU context for Romania, and trying to explain them that Dracula is just a story, that we are in a big comotion as a country and Ceausescu is not on our lips anymore because in the last 16 years very many changes have happened, that there are already many companies that have successfully established their subsidies in Romania (like Siemens VDO, Renault, Lear Corp., IBM, UBI Soft, Coca Cola HBC, QAB etc. to name just a few of them that come in my mind right now), that our dental services are of a great quality and the price is much more lower then in other CEE countries and some many other subjects, i had a thought…there are so many intelectuals and entrepreneurs that have not even a clue about my country…i expected this from people that don’t read newspapers and don’t watch CNN, from people with no initiative, but these guys were the “creme de la creme”…I had a thought…

And there was this guy that asked me if i speak Russian…i do not speak Russian…sorry…but he kept insisting…for God’s sake! i speak 4 languages but not Russian…is it so hard to believe that the percentage of Romanians that speak Russian decreased almost to Zero since 15-20 years ago?

And…by the way…Bucharest is our capital, not Bratislava or Budapest…

So my thought is that maybe i should consider writing more about Romania on this blog, and not about my travels:))

But i will take this as an opportunity…for all of us who want to know more…about Romania…you feel free to ask me anything, from cultural differences, to intercultural communication, Romanian presentations, Romanian food, nice places for traveling, to how should i present myself to a meeting with a businessman from Romania, to contacts to open a subsidy in Romania, to potentials recruitment in Romania, to business opportunities in Romania…

I will be glad to tell you more:)

Smooth roads in 2007,

the Holidays are over…but 2007 looks nicer then 2006 January 9, 2007

hello dear frieds,

me writing here is a proof that the holidays are over:(…i was getting used to it…but now is 2007…and i have some wishes to make them come true:)

in the Holidays i finished discovering Frankfurt…is not a very big city…

the sky scrapers fascinate me the most…and the rain i hate the most…

at the begining i thought that the fact that here is bab weather most of the time will not affect me, but i was wrong…having only 2 hours of sun per day is not fun at all! maybe this is why the people over here are so gloomy, the wheater got them like in a spell…

i spent Christmas with my house mates and their gests (an Estonian, a Slovak, an Indian and 2 Romanians) and we also had a traditional German dinner “provided” by the landlords, with a Christmas tree also…so i did not feel lonely

What was very interesting at the Christmas dinner was the amount of meat that those people brought ….and aet…or maybe is just my subjective opinion…

then on New Years Eve, my boyfriend came, and we were 3 Romanians…so we did speak a lot of Romanian in the house:)))….we had fun, but i am not so enthusiastic about it because i have the feeling that i started to get used with having New Years Eve with friends, so actualy, besides the champagne (which actually is sprinkling wine, due to copyright laws) it was almost like any other party…so what is so different about 1st of January??

So i got back to office and now i continue to work on the nice projects i have…i really like it in here, everything…i like everything about this job…isn’t this amazing? is mz second job about which i am saying this…so i am either so damn lucky to pick the good one, or i just know how to choose…and of course, i know what i want…i guess this stays at the basis of this “luck”…

So when my boyf was here i showed him around and we made some pictures…i have been waiting for his camera for quite a long time:))) so i will finaly be able to add some more pictures with Frankfurt, my house and my work place:P…soon

Yesterday i was looking at a map of Europe and i decided i have to see some more of it…at least the closer parts to Frankfurt…so i made a wishlist: Amsterdam, Strasbourg, Paris, Bruxelles, Prague, Krakow, Salzburg, Zurich, Munich and Madrid and maybe next year also Barcelona. I want to see these all until the end of 2007. In (or near) half of them i have friends:))) so it will not be that expensive :P

I don’t know why, but i don’t seem to feel any atraction to see Berlin…so in Germany i will probably be satisfied with seeing Munich and some historical cities on the Rhein…

On the other hand, even if i like everything about this job and i like the house, and my garden and the swing, and the bike and the many H&M this Frankfurt has (about 8 i counted)…i am more positive as time goes by, that i will definitly not like to live here for the rest of my life…

So i have seen quite some cities, and i will still see some more this year…and i hope i will find the city of my dreams, with which to fall in love and like to stay for the rest of my life…did any of you find the for-all-life-city?

liebe grussen,
