wonderful NY Times article about Bucharest October 3, 2007

I just read an article in the online version of NY Times about housing in Bucharest. Well..the prices are growing extremely as everybody knows, but what is beautiful in this article is the fact that is the first that i am reading and is not criticizing. It just takes Bucharest and Romania for what they are, and surprise surprise New Yorkers like it…
The tone is really peaceful and not sarcastic, not ironic, and the finishing is really great.

i decided i need a change…in writing and “blog image”…i just got bored of this place and i moved on wordpress. As you probably saw i didn’t write too much lately…it is because i felt no motivation anymore…i didn’t have much time either…but the motivation was the “Click” …so i moved my blog in a place that motivates me to write…you can read further at: http://armiberries.wordpress.com – you can subscribe to RSS there if you want to keep yourself updated.
another reason for which i moved it all is the fact that on facebook i couldn’t import posts from 360.yahoo.com but i CAN import them from wordpress;) and most of you, my friends are on facebook.

i was in Romania for 10 days…to pass my masters exams, and see my family, and of course to take the winter clothes:P
i had a nice time, but i realised once more that i am not so eager to go back. it would be a little bit hard to adjust to the environment, the way people act and the work culture…i guess i don’t want to go back too soon…
Zurich is the same…and work is more and more interesting…so i might stay longer:)
I am planning to travel a little before Christmas, when i am thinking of staying here for the xmas market…if they don’t have Gluweine though, i guess i will just have to go to Frankfurt:)
I miss my friends in Frankfurt…and my AIESEC friends who got so spread in the world, that now is hard to decide when and whom to visit first:)

that’s what i am doing now…
i can say i got used with staying in Zurich…2 months have passed and i can say that…
it is a nice city…a family city…is so much different than Frankfurt – the yuppies city:)…but i am living life to the max…in the meaning that i am happy…and i don’t care too much about stuff…i finally managed to relax…literaly…it took me hmmm i am 24 and i was a “pushie”, ambitions, “want-it-all-now” girl since i was 7 years old…at least this is the way i remember it…
well…now i am relaxed…Jesus this is so good…no stress for the money (i don’t have too much but i don’t wish i had more…and this means a lot for me), no stress for exams (my masters exams are in one week, if i don’t pass them it means i made a trip to Romania and spend 1000 euros and still failed 1 year) – no…wrong…it means i will repeat the year…so what, where is the fire?, it means i invested 1000 euros in seeing my family and my friends whom i love so much and miss so much, it means i get to see my country and it means i will be a student one year more…how many people don’t wish they were students again?…see..it is possible to see things in pink…it is an art…it is a skill and it takes so much to learn it…
so what if i am alone right now, i have a boy:) he loves me so much and i love him extremely much too…he is not here, but if i get really desperate, i can just pack my begs, resign…stop doing change management in the company and do some change management in my life…pack my begs, move to his place and start writing bed time stories for kids:)…so what if in December i will not find a job, i can just do change management in my life:)…put dareberries.com on its feet and start doing a change, making a difference…
i want to make a difference and i will start doing that…and i will not wait until i will be 50 and have enough money to do it, like most of the guys on ted.com are doing…i will start sooner…i will…
it is so funny…actually i use “funny” too much…is not funny at all…after 4 years in AIESEC and dreaming about getting “big” and making a difference, now i started to get big and i started to forget about making a difference, and it sucks, because this is not me. this is what i realised a few weeks ago…so i am going to do something about it…i will start making a difference before “getting big”…

yes, i am looking for a little bit of adrenaline…not the hard stuff that some are looking for…i don’t want bungee jumping…just a little irony, sarcasm, noise…
Switzerland lacks all these…these guys don’t know what sarcasm is…what irony is…what making real jokes means…some of the Germans don’t know these either, until they drink a beer or two;) afterwards they are a fun company…but the Swiss…well the Swiss…hmm…these Swiss friends of mine have drunk some evenings ago 2 bottles of wine…and there were girls in the room, and they kept talking about the military service for 2 hours…that was boring…very entertaining for them though:))
this is just an example…but in general, here you can’t get the fun i used to have back in Romania. I love latin countries, i miss the guys in Frankfurt…and my friends back in Romania…

au trecut 2 luni si abia acum am gasit timp sa fac un update k lumea…
Zurich e un oras foarte interesant…nu exista cersetori, drogati, caini fara stapan, praf, claxoane, oameni prost imbracati, hoti, pateuri cu branza:P…
Peste tot gasesti sute de feluri de ciocolata, zeci de feluri de branza, magazine de marca cu preturi exorbitante, pe care localnicii si le permit fara foarte mare efort, bineinteles…banci. Peste tot gasesti mobila la second hand gratis, restaurante (sunt aprox 500 de restaurante – ceea ce inseamna 1 la fiecare 180 de locuitori), fantani cu apa potabila, copaci si verdeata, cele 2 supermarketuri ce detin monopolul (Migros si Coop), oameni care vorbesc elvetiana (o germana tipica, pe care si nemtii o inteleg cu mare greutate)
Are un ditamai lac in centru si un parc alaturi, unde oamenii fac plaja si gratare. poti face o plimbare pe lac cu o barca cu motor, pe care o poti inchiria la doar 30 de euro pt o ora la 5 persoane, si in mijlocul lacului poti sa faci baie.
O camera cu chirie + toate costurile incluse, e minim 350 de euro.
Are cele mai variate mijloace de transport posibile: tren, tramvai, metrou, barci, autobuze, tramvaie-restaurant, biciclete/trotinete/role de inchiriat gratis, picioroange de inchiriat pe bani.
In Zurich sunt foarte multi straini si toata lumea vorbeste cel putin 2 limbi si 1 dialect. de altfel e plin de britanici, francezi si spanioli…predominant…
Pe Langstrasse poti merge din discoteca in discoteca si din bordel in bordel si din fast food in fast food de seara pana dimineata – singura arie mai “ne sigura” (asa zic localnicii:))
Elvetia are cei mai multi castigatori de premii Nobel pe stiinta, si aici posturile in cercetare sunt super bine platite, am ramas surprinsa de scorurile pe care le-am auzit.
Nu mi-am imaginat niciodata ca o sa lucrez intr-o banca, pe IT…dar vreau sa va zic ca imi place la nebunie…iar elvetienii sunt niste oameni super (seamana cu ardelenii nostri:)… am in plan sa stau mai mult pe aici…e un fel de Bucuresti dar cu o aglomeratie rezonabila, cu oameni calmi, fara poluare, cu foarte foarte multe spatii verzi, la fel de multe locuri unde te poti distra, dar fara ambuteillaje, fara jigniri, fara rautate, cu preturi corecte, salarii corecte si oameni corecti. suna bine, nu?
